While in 1869 the newly founded Smíchov brewery was part of one of Prague’s suburbs, over the course of more than 150 years it has become a part of the wider centre of the capital.

The brewery in Smíchov is one of the largest and the most modern in the Czech Republic.

Among others, Staropramen, Braník and Cool brands are brewed here with an annual production of around 2 million hectolitres.

Although more than 123 years have passed since the first mention of the brewery, Ostravar is still brewed using the traditional bottom fermentation technology in the open vats of the fermentation room.

Today, we regularly brew Ostravar 12, Mustang and Ostravar Original in the brewery. We are also proud of the “Speciály ze spilky” specialities including, for example, Černá Barbora, the best dark special of 2018.

Each year, we brew approximately 0.5 million hectolitres of beer here.
